With the seasonal flu and the H1N1 virus circulating throughout the country, it is important for students, faculty, and staff to exercise traditional flu avoidance strategies.

See H1N1 flu for more information.

Sick students who have flu like symptoms or think they have been exposed to the flu should call the Student Health Center at 205-348-9184 during business hours for flu specific information or questions.

Contact the University Medical Center/Student Health Center for seasonal and H1N1 vaccinations.

UA Flu Tips

The University has implemented a new emergency notification system called UA Alerts.  The system sends telephone calls, text messages, and e-mail simultaneously to UA students, faculty, and staff in the event of a campus emergency.

Welcome to the Emergency Preparedness web site at The University of Alabama.

The Office of Emergency Preparedness for Financial Affairs is tasked with improving the University’s readiness for potential emergencies.  This includes developing and exercising emergency plans, supporting first responders during an incident, conducting training, and advancing the emergency management process.

Emergency Management Phases

This web site is designed to provide helpful information to the University community prior to an emergency.  During an emergency, the University will notify, update, and provide direction on its primary web site (www.ua.edu).

Preparedness is the key to mitigate an emergency.  It can reduce fear, anxiety, and losses.  Should an incident occur, the University will provide assistance; however, local responders may have difficulty getting to you or are focused elsewhere; therefore, individuals should know what to do.  Use this site and others to prepare for disasters that may occur in this area.
